NCAL - Annual Meeting Follow Up & Feline Frenzy Open House

posted at 4:39 pm Tue Jun 16th, 2015 by (WherezIt_Staff)

Thank You!
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for attending last week's Annual Meeting.  In case you missed it, here a few highlights.
Volunteers of the Year Awards
We are so lucky to have many wonderful volunteers that come on a weekly basis to hang out with the animals and help us out.  Renate Callahan is our Friday cat-cuddler!  Every Friday afternoon Renate comes in and spends quality time with all of the cats.  On more than one occasion she has successfully matched a cat to a new family!  Renate also helps with the coin can collection in Johnson.  We are so lucky to have Renate as a friend and a volunteer!
Staff of the Year Award
Our Staff Award went to our Customer Service Supervisor, Carlee Brion.  Carlee's warm smile greets all customers and volunteers when they walk through the door.  She is always willing to go the extra mile and help out wherever she can, whether it is going on a cruelty seizure in the freezing cold or spending the day at an offsite adoption event.  Carlee is a valuable asset to the NCAL team.
Business of the Year Award
Mort & Frank Butler from FixPC received our Business of the Year Award.  For many, many years Mort has been our go-to IT gal for all our computer issues.  She is always just a phone call away to either trouble-shoot over the phone or to stop by and help us with our problems.  She has even shown us how to do things so that we not only save money but learn to fix potential issues in the future.  Mort and Frank have also been valuable foster homes and adopters!
Guest Speaker : Steve Reinman
We were honored to have Steve Reinman as our guest speaker.  Steve is the founder of Therapy Dogs of Vermont.  His slide show presentation gave us a peek at the world of Therapy dog work and how it all came to  be.  Steve also brought a special guest, Kristee the therapy dog who was a hit among the crowd.
Jacob Baker Animal Rescue Courage Award
This year we were so proud to give the first ever Jacob Baker Animal Rescue Courage Award to it's namesake, Jacob Baker.  Jacob's courage and love of animals helped with the seizure of nearly 100 animals from a local home in our community.   Jacob's quick thinking and sly camera skills provided the evidence needed for the home to be searched and for the animals to be removed.  Jacob unknowingly saved the lives of so many animals and we couldn't be more proud to have him in our community!
Feline Frenzy Open House
Did you know that June is Adopt a Shelter Cat month?   To celebrate we are having an Open House to show appreciation to our furry, feline friends.  Stop by and meet all the wonderful cats that are waiting for their forever homes.
