Firm planning buried power line agrees to lake funding

A company that wants to bury a power line from the Canadian border down Lake Champlain to southern Vermont is ready to help fund a number of lake protection projects.

TDI-New England announced Monday it had filed an agreement with the Vermont Public Service Board that it has reached with the Conservation Law Foundation.

TDI-New England is awaiting state and federal approval for a project to bring 1,000 megawatts of Canadian electricity to southern New England via the cable that will be buried 100 miles beneath Lake Champlain and then across Vermont to Ludlow where it would connect to the regional power grid.
