The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center is proud to announce THE GATHERING presented by Will Ackerman, founder of Windham Hill Records, on Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m. in Stowe, Vermont. For tickets visit sprucepeakarts.org/ or call 802-760-4634.
THE GATHERING is part of a series of three concerts in Stowe produced and hosted by Will Ackerman, Founder of Windham Hill Records. The June concert features five exceptional artists, including: Todd Boston, guitar, winner 2012 Zone Music Reporter (ZMR) Best Instrumental Album; Kathryn Kaye, piano, winner 2013 ZMR Best Holiday Album; Trevor Gordon Hall, guitar, nominated 2014 ZMR Best Instrumental Album-Acoustic; Lynn Yew Evers, piano, winner 2012 ZMR Best New Artist; and special guest Eugene Friesen, cello, six-time Grammy winner with the Paul Winter Consort.
In 2012, Will Ackerman began creating compilation CDs of the musicians he was currently producing, calling the CDs THE GATHERING. The first GATHERING CD won the coveted ZMR Album of the Year and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album awards with the highest ratings of any CD in the history of those charts. Many of the artists on THE GATHERING CDs have ranked in the top 10 of the ZMR charts and several have been recipients of CD of the Year Award. Will is inaugurating THE GATHERING concert tours, throughout the US and Canada. Ackerman said, "For the many people who loved my Windham Hill label, The Gathering is my return to producing music of the heart and soul with a family of brilliant new musicians." Two additional concerts will be held at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in October and December featuring different artists.
Todd Boston is an award winning guitarist/multi-instrumentalist that defies what is possible for one musician. He produces an organic and mesmerizing sound marrying together his love of music, nature and technology. Boston fuses advanced finger style guitar techniques, wood flute, percussion and instruments of the world together with live looping and computer technology. www.ToddBoston.com
Kathryn Kaye is an acclaimed pianist/composer, whose first four albums quickly reached the top of the Zone Music Reporter (ZMR) charts. Her third album, What the Winter Said, was ZMR Best Holiday Album of 2013. Darrell Burgan of StillStream.com described her music as “some of the most thoughtful and profound piano work I have ever heard.” www.kathrynkaye-music.com
Trevor Gordon Hall is an acoustic instrumentalist whose compositions range in style from driving rhythms to soft melodic phrases. He caught the eye of nine time Grammy winning producer Joe Nicolo (James Taylor, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, etc.), who produced two of Trevor’s releases entitled “Finding My Way” and “Let Your Heart Be Light”. These releases garnered high reviews and gave Trevor such opportunities as recording with bass virtuoso Michael Manring as well as continuing to share the stage with artists such as Pat Martino, Phil Keaggy, Don Ross, Andy Mckee, Alex Skolnick, The California Guitar Trio, Billy Cobham etc. Trevor has collaborated with various builders to redesign an instrument called the kalimba, which mounts to the surface of the guitar. Compositions inspired by the pairing of the two instruments can be heard in Trevor’s Candyrat Records debut “Entelechy”. Upon its release, this album climbed the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts, as well as YouTube Top Commented/Top Favorited/Most Discussed categories with the release of videos. His music has been featured on various national radio stations including NPR and television networks including NBC. Trevor performs throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe. www.trevorgordonhall.com
Lynn Yew Evers is a multitalented concert pianist, whose passion and determination lead her to relocate from Malaysia to the United States in 2009 to further pursue her well-accomplished career as a professional musician. She returned to Malaysia and from 1985-2009, organized and performed in a multitude of concerts in Malaysia and the U.S. as a solo pianist and accompanist for renowned choirs and ensembles. She arranged, composed and produced the music for a multitude of venues featuring brass bands, ensembles, and chamber orchestras. Lynn also appeared as an international judge for piano competitions on HDTV and played the keyboard in a rock band. Her countless high-level appearances, lead to a well-deserved invitation to the palace to play for the king and queen of Malaysia, as well as the Prime Minister and other Malaysian dignitaries. www.lynnyewevers.com
