Vermont Senate approves renewable energy bill

The Vermont Senate has passed its version of a wide-ranging renewable energy bill, and a key House committee chairman says he believes that body will concur with the Senate-passed version.

The measure calls for Vermont to get 75 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2032.

It also fixes a program that had been criticized in the way that it allowed Vermont utilities to sell renewable energy credits to out-of-state utilities.
