Harwood Union High School presents "A Christmas Carol" Duxbury Vermont

Harwood Union High School will present its fall play, "A Christmas Carol," on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 13-14, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The play is a new adaptation of the Dickens classic by American playwright Romulus Linney, and was originally produced at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.

The story of Ebenezer Scrooge's journey on Christmas Eve from an embittered, ungenerous creature into a giving, caring human being at the hands of three spirits is a timeless tale for the whole family. Beloved characters Fezziwig, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and Scrooge's eternally cheerful nephew Fred are featured, as are the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come.

The Harwood cast of 21 and crew of 11 includes students in grades 9-12 who have been working on British and Cockney accents, a three-dimensional set, and special lighting and sound effects since the beginning of the school year.

Ebenezer Scrooge is played by Curtis Wilcox, the Ghost of Christmas Past by Molly Ferguson, and the Ghost of Christmas Present by Evan Ostler, who also plays the ghost of Scrooge's business partner, Jacob Marley.

Cormac Stevens plays Scrooge's nephew Fred, who narrates the beginning of the story. Bob Cratchit is played by Matt Skelly, Mrs. Cratchit by Chloe Emler, and the Cratchit children by Morgan Vasseur, Maya Garrett, Ava Kendrick, Morgan Howes and Madison Commo. The youngest Cratchit, Tiny Tim, is played by Luna Isham.

In the scenes from Scrooge's past, Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig, Scrooge's first employers, are played by Ray Parker and Emmy Kelly. Harrison Russell plays Scrooge as a young man, and Nina Sklar plays Belle, a woman to whom Scrooge was once engaged. Also in the cast are Silvia Ubiali, Rachel Tousignant, Isabel Carr, Jonas Merchant and Sophy. All the cast members, except Curtis Wilcox, play multiple roles as the story of Scrooge's life unfolds.

The stage manager is Anna White. The set is designed by Kianna Haskin, working with set construction crew chief Dakota Metayer, and set crew Josie Allison, Kyle Roche, Emily Sinnot, Eli Hammond, Ava Kendrick and Silvia Ubiali. Lighting design and operation are by Tenaya Hubble-Wood, with sound design by Eli Rivers. Costume and makeup design are by Kelsey Lowe. The technical director is Kevin Kelly, and the artistic director is Ruth Ann Pattee.

All performances take place in the auditorium at Harwood Union High School, Route 100, South Duxbury. Tickets will be available at the door.
