Republicans expected to try to slow health changes

Health care was already going to be a big issue in the upcoming Vermont Legislature, with the Shumlin administration overdue to present its financing plan for universal coverage.

But now some older battles may be fought anew, as Republicans prepare to question the path the state is on and advocates for what's often called single-payer prepare to defend it.

Darcie Johnston of Vermonters for Health Care Freedom, a staunch critic of Democrats' health care efforts, says she's working with Republicans on legislation that would reverse much of the 2011 law that set up the health care changes now in progress.
