Florence C. Jordan, 94, longtime resident of Berlin Street, Montpelier, slipped away while no one was peeking and joined her husband in a heavenly place, Sunday afernoon, November 9, 2014, while being cared for at Rowan Court Nursing Home.
She was born on February 9, 1920 in Garden City, New York the daughter of Patrick and Pearl (Ash) Cavanagh. Florence spent some time living and learning in Montreal, Canada, speaking fluent French. She returned to New York City with her parents and brothers thus discovering her love for the country and horseback riding when they moved on to Maine. She treasured her life and home on Dennis Hill, Maine.
Florence was married to Albert H. Jordan on February 13, 1943, the son of a respected farmer. After their second child was born,
they relocated to Long Island New York, where they lived for many years, enjoying many day trips into the City for Broadway shows and other events.
After coming to Vermont to live and after the children were grown, Mr. Jordan predeceased her on November 6, 1991.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Muriel Goldbeg and her husband, James of Williston, Vt; Grandson, Christopher Eaton and his wife, Sabine of Portland, Oregon and their daughter Lily of Portland, Oregon; and Alexander Eaton of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; and a Granddaughter, Leslie Baker of Waterbury Center and husband.
She was predeceased by her devoted son Albert N. Jordan on September 28, 2008; and her three brothers, Patrick Cavanagh, Norman Cavanagh and Thomas Cavanagh.
Other surviving family include her Niece Barbara Joshi and husband, Shiv Joshi of Pales Verdes, California; and her Nephew Dennis Cavanagh and his wife Sue of Portland, Oregon.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 14th from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM at Guare & Sons/Barber & Lanier Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier. A Funeral Service will follow calling hours starting at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
