Road Construction Update - Week of November 10, 2014

Road Construction Update - Week of November 10, 2014 Duxbury Vermont

posted at 9:47 am Tue Nov 11th, 2014 by (WherezIt_Staff)

As construction season winds up, a number of projects are nearing completion and/or clean up for the season. I know that it has been a long summer/fall with many disruptions, but the progress that has been made on improving Waterbury's infrastructure is quite remarkable.

Waterbury Roundabout Project
Project Location: Intersection of Routes 100/2 in Waterbury.
On Monday TRAFFIC WILL BE SHIFTED TO THE FULLY FUNCTIONING ROUNDABOUT. Uniformed Traffic Officers and traffic signals will be used to assist motorists in navigating the Roundabout. For the remainder of the week, crews will be installing new curb on the islands and performing miscellaneous clean-up activities. Work will continue for the next few weeks before the project shuts down for the winter.

WATCH FOR ANOTHER POSTING THIS WEEK ABOUT HOW TO TRAVEL THROUGH A ROUNDABOUT.
Traffic - Traffic delays can be expected throughout the week.

I-89 Bridges Project
Project Location: The I-89 Bridges Project is located at Exit 10 on I-89 in Waterbury.
Work on this project this week will occur in 3 different places - on the interstate itself, on Stowe Street, and on Route 100. See below for additional details.

I-89 Crossover Work - Crews will continue construction of the crossovers on I-89 in preparation for the bridge construction in 2015. Daily closures of the passing lanes through the Exit 10 area of I-89 will be required during daytime hours. Motorists using Exit 10 on ramps are advised to use extreme caution and yield upon merging into traffic. With daily passing lane closures through the Exit 10 NB and SB area, thru traffic will be restricted to use the travel lanes only. Speed limits have been reduced to 50 mph through the construction zones on I-89 NB and SB.

Stowe Street - Crews will continue to work in the area of the new utility duct banks on Stowe Street under the I-89 bridges. Travel will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic with flaggers maintaining traffic flow.

New Southbound On-Ramp Spur - Relocation work will occur on the SB off ramp traffic signal through Wednesday. At various times, the signal may be shut off or flashing yellow. A uniformed traffic officer will be present to direct traffic during these times.

Traffic: Traffic delays can be expected throughout the week.

Bolton-Waterbury (US 2 Reclaim)
Project Location: Route 2 - From Parro's Gun Shop in Waterbury west along Route 2 to just beyond Latham Trailer Sales in Bolton.
FINAL PAVING OF ROUTE 2 IS COMPLETE!!!!! Crews will focus on paving side road entrances and line striping throughout the week, weather permitting.
Traffic - Alternating one-way travel may be necessary. Traffic control personnel will be present to assist in maintaining traffic flow.

Stowe Street Sidewalk
Project Location: Stowe Street project limits extend from the Thatcher Brook School to Lincoln Street.
COMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BE REACHED BY THE END OF THE WEEK!!!!!
East Street to Route 100 - Crews will complete new sidewalk installation early to mid-week. Miscellaneous clean-up work will occur for the remainder of the week. Travel will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic with flaggers maintaining traffic flow.
Traffic: Traffic delays can be expected throughout the week.

Waitsfield-Moretown-Duxbury (VT 100 Preventive Maintenance Paving)
Paving - Crews will continue paving on Route 100 in Waitsfield Village and Irasville. Paving on Route 17 is also included in the paving plans for the week. All paving is weather dependent. Gravel shoulders will be installed along Route 100 between Waitsfield Telecom and Route 100B. THE PAVING FROM 100B TO THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTES 100 / 2 IN MORETOWN/DUXBURY (BY JUNIPER'S FARE) WILL NOT BE COMPLETED UNTIL NEXT YEAR.

All operations will require alternating one-way traffic within the construction zone. Traffic control personnel will be present to maintain traffic flow.
