MeaningfulFunerals - 9:22 am Tue Nov 11th, 2014

The world lost a kind and generous soul on Friday, November 7, 2014 when Stuart Harris MacPherson, 59, passed away peacefully and surrounded by the loving embrace of his family.

He lived a life full of rich experiences - and while we mourn the end of his journey, those who knew him will always be proud to retell his tale marked by adventurous travel, Scottish tradition, and a full heart that was open to all those around him.

Stuart was born October 25, 1955 in Framingham, Massachusetts to Stephen and Ruth MacPherson and was brother to Douglass (VA) and Laura MacPherson (NH). After a childhood following his father on military deployments around Europe, and graduations from the University of Vermont (BSEE) and Northeastern University (MSEE),Stuart embarked on a 32 year career with defense contractor BAE Systems. Stuart set his roots in Derry, New Hampshire with his former wife of 28 years and long time good friend Laurie MacPherson, where they raised four children who love him very much: Heather (MA), Andrew (MD), Robert (Singapore), and Alexander (NC). He is also survived by the newest member of his clan: grandson Grant (MD).

Throughout his lifetime, Stuart traveled from Latin America to Asia and nearly everywhere in between - but no place, but home, was home like the MacPherson country in the Scottish Highlands. He dedicated much of his life to his passionate pursuit of preserving and sharing the Clan MacPherson's history and tradition. Additionally, he was Membership Secretary for the Clan MacPherson Association, a 32nd degree Master Freemason, and a Knights Templar of the Scottish Military Order.

Stuart's house was an open door and warm place for family, friends, and world travelers alike - where anyone was invited for his famous Sunday brunch or Friday night lobster and filet mignon. Along his journey, he never hesitated to give back to a world that was so generous to him through his many volunteer and charitable acts, always happy to lend a helping hand to others. Stuart was among the proudest of Scotsmen to ever live and his personal qualities and values were an inspiration. We are certain that they will be playing bag pipes in heaven to herald the return of a gracious and decent human being.
