Burglary & Grand Larceny - Morristown, VT

On 10-31-14 at around 03:40AM officers from the Morristown Police Dept. responded to an alarm at Leo's Small Engine in Morristown, VT.

Upon arrival it was discovered that entry had been forced into the building and several Stihl chainsaws and cut-off saws had been stolen, totaling more than $5000.00 in lost merchandise.

As a result of the investigation Russell Smith DOB: 05-03-80 of Richford, VT was arrested on 11-06-14 and charged with burglary and grand larceny. During his arrest one of the stolen chainsaws from Leo's Small Engine was recovered. A second chainsaw from a recent burglary in Colchester, VT was also recovered.

On 11-06-14, Smith was also charged by the Franklin County Sheriff's Dept. with burglary and grand larceny related to an incident in Franklin County, VT where numerous chainsaws were stolen.

At this time the investigation is still active, as there are still several missing chainsaws and the two cut-off saws. Anyone with information is encourage to contact the Morristown Police at 802-888-4211.
