Lyric Buys 7 Green Tree Drive!

It was with great excitement that on Oct. 21st, the Lyric Theatre Board of Directors voted to move ahead with the purchase of 7 Green Tree Dr., the building we have been hoping to acquire and fit up as our new "creation" facility.

At $892,000 pledged to date we are only two thirds of the way to our final Capital Campaign goal of 1.4 million, BUT we have been presented with three great incentives to buy this building now:

  1. The building's owner has shown great generosity in holding the building for us as we raise the money to buy it. His intention back in 2012 was to sell it and he has waited for us! He is now offering us the building at a great price if we can close before the end of 2014.

  2. Interest rates on commercial loans are very, very low right now and who knows what the future will bring? If Lyric needs to borrow a little money as we wait for money from pledges to come in over three years, now is by far the best possible time. Several banks are offering us outstanding rates and are excited to help Lyric into this home.

  3. Latest Big Gift! After hearing how close we are and wanting to help us reach our goal sooner rather than later, North Country Federal Credit Union has pledged to Lyric $50,000. This was the big bump we have been looking for to make consideration of buying the building possible.

We will save Lyric money in the long term by purchasing the building now, but we still must complete the Capital Campaign before we can renovate and fit up the building to meet our Company's needs. After we buy the building on Dec. 31st 2014, we must keep the current tenants in place, paying rent and helping us to carry the costs of the building. That means we cannot move construction, costumes, rehearsals, etc. into the new building until we reach our goal and renovate the space. The faster we can achieve our 1.4 million, the faster we can finish our facility and make this dream a reality.

We need to raise approximately $500,000 dollars more and we will certainly do it!

The Capital Campaign Committee is doubling its efforts in the next few months to make fundraising visits and phone calls. You may receive a postcard with a time that a Lyric member will phone you. Please remember:

  1. It is a 3 year pledge period. You do not have to give your entire gift at once.

  2. It is a great time to gift appreciated stock. Talk to your financial advisor to find the most advantageous way to do this, and call Syndi Zook for our brokerage connection.

  3. Join "The 300." We are looking for 300 people to give Lyric $1 a day for three years. Total pledge $1,095. We can accept the money monthly or bi-weekly from your bank or payroll or automatically debit your credit card in any increment you choose.

  4. Spread the word! When your friends say how much they enjoy Lyric shows, tell them about our campaign and invite them to give!

  5. For a copy of our Capital Campaign brochure go to: http://www.lyrictheatrevt.org/campaign/CampaignBooklet.pdf

And if you have already given - We thank you for helping us to get this far!
