Vermont capital city biomass plant to go live

A biomass heating system that will help supply hot water to public and privately owned buildings in Vermont's capital city is set to start serving its customers.

City Manager Bill Fraser says the boiler in the state-owned plant in downtown Montpelier will begin serving customers on Wednesday.

Fraser says the biomass plant is part of a broader city-wide goal to become completely "net zero" by 2030, meaning all energy used in the city would come from renewable sources, including transportation.
